EXAMPLES OF HOW TO MAKE YOUR LIFESTYLE MORE CLIMATE FRIENDLY

DECREASE MEAT CONSUMPTION:

The livestock sector — raising cows, pigs and chickens — generates as much greenhouse gas emissions as all cars, trucks and automobiles combined. Cattle ranchers have clear cut millions of square kilometers of forests for grazing pastures, decimating natural “carbon sinks.” You don't need to cut meat out entirely (although that'd be great), instead, cut your meat consumption down to only a few meals a week. Especially try to limit the amount of red meant you consume.

CHANGE THE WAY YOU TRAVEL:

Look at what kinds of transportation you use. Car carbon emissions do a lot of damage. Where can you swap in walking, biking, public transportation, or carpooling instead? Identify where you travel to everyday, which of these options is feasible for you? If you can, make your next car an electric one.

LOOK FOR WASTE AROUND YOUR HOME:

As a society we waste a lot. Food, water, energy. Consider how much of these things you waste in your own home. Eliminate food waste by only buying what you need and starting a compost bin for food waste you can't avoid. Make sure you don't leave water running unecessarily. Cut down on your long showers. If you can, swap out your appliances for more efficient ones. For example, switch your light bulbs to be LED. More drastically, you could consider investing in solar energy.

AVOID SINGLE-USE PLASTICS:

Single use plastics are horrible for the environment and often their use is avoidable. Bring your own shopping bags. If you know you will need water, bring your own waterbottle rather than purchasing one. Swap out your plastic baggies for paper ones. Consider bringing your own straw to avoid using a plastic one.

CHANGE THE WAY YOU SHOP:

Many clothes are not produced in eco-friendly ways. Purchasing items online also uses a lot of unnescary packaging for shipping. Because the quality of the clothing isn't the best, and consumers are purchasing clothes at a faster rate, an expanded amount of textiles end up in the landfill each year. Changing your shopping habits to center around thrifting and buying things from second-hand stores extends the lifespan of our clothes and other products keeping them out of the landfill. Try borrowing mroe clothes from your friends and family!

These are only a few examples of measures you can take. Don't stop here!
